In the book, you talk alot about Jamie's early days in his first job. How do I make a good first impression in my new job?
As the old adage goes, "People only care about how much you know after they know how much you care." This was never truer than in your earlier days on a new job.
Your first 30 days in a new job should be about building good relationships, listening well, and showing your co-workers that you are trustworthy and congenial. Ask alot of questions, take good notes and be careful not to show up your coworkers. Ask a different coworker to lunch every day (pay if you can afford it) and get to know them on a personal basis. Work normal hours, just like your coworkers, because you don't want to threaten them early in your career.
Your tendency (and mine) is to make in impact as soon as you arrive. There will be plenty of time to prove your work ethic, knowledge and productivity. Remember that your early days in any new job is about building a strong foundation for a future business relationship with your team.
